Jefferson Energy Companies is a multi-modal facility connecting rail, marine, truck and pipeline headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas with transportation, terminal and storage assets located at the Port of Beaumont in Beaumont, Texas. Loading and unloading capabilities include ethanol, fuels and crude oil from the heaviest Canadian bitumen to the lightest condensate. The terminal sits on a 250-acre site on the east bank of the Neches River Ship Channel and is directly served by three Class 1 Railroads (UP, BNSF and KCS) with power sharing agreements with CP and CN. There are over 2,100,000 barrels of shell storage capacity in service or under construction with full a build-out potential of 18 million barrels. A highway off-ramp is under construction and once completed will connect truck traffic from Interstate 10 directly to the terminal. The Terminal Marine capabilities include a Ship Dock and dedicated Inland Barge Dock which connect the Terminal to domestic and foreign marine destinations. The terminal’s service has expanded ethanol, heavy refinery feedstocks and rail loading of refined products for export to Mexico and domestic distribution.
Responsible for safe troubleshooting, installation, repair and operation of mechanical, electrical and instrument equipment.
Understands accepted troubleshooting guidelines for PLC, control valves and all PLC logic.
Possesses overall knowledge of the installation, operation, and repair of assigned equipment.
Maintains sufficient inventory of electrical supplies and repair parts to meet most emergency situations.
Reports any unsafe practices or actions to supervisor.
Continues to look for better and more efficient ways of doing job.
Keeps lines of communication open to supervisor and other company employees while meeting the needs of all customers.
Makes callouts on equipment.
Works with project managers, engineering and contractors on all new construction projects.
Maintain all controls, monitor alarms and sensor tests.
Troubleshooting and scheduling electrical maintenance for the assigned location.
Solid understanding of electrical motor control.
Knowledge of electrical prints and capable of making appropriate red-line changes to them.
Good understanding of PLC cause and effect.
Supervisor electrical contractors.
Other duties as assigned.
3-5 years previous I & E / PLC technician experience required.
ssociates of Applied Science in a technical field, or equivalent skills and experience.
PLC certification preferred.
Knowledge and experience working with Emerson, SAAB and AllenBradley software.
Requires good communication skills, written and verbal, self-motivation and assertive style.
Job requires call-outs on a 24-hour emergency basis and an ability to work long hours, weekends, nights and holidays, when required.
Must carry a cell phone and respond to calls in a timely manner.
Perform physical labor in a variety of extreme climatic conditions including walking, bending, stooping, climbing tanks, digging, lifting and general manual labor.
Use of hand tools to perform essential functions of the position.
Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules.
The ability to secure a TWIC card within 30 days required.
Ability to lift 30 pounds, climb stairs, stoop and squat.
Ability to sit and use a computer for long periods of time.
