About the Company:

Jefferson Energy Companies is an innovative midstream energy company headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, with Terminal operations at the Port of Beaumont in Beaumont, Texas. The terminal sits on a 250 acre site on the east bank of the Neches River Ship Channel at the confluence of three Class 1 rail carriers. The Terminal is designed to deliver maximum flexibility to users, with crude by rail capability of 210,000 barrels per day ranging from the lightest condensate to pure bitumen. The Terminal Marine capabilities include a Ship Dock and dedicated Inland Barge Dock which connect the Terminal to domestic and foreign marine destinations.

Position Summary:

The Boiler Operator will operate three industrial boilers to produce steam for Jefferson Energy Terminal’s heat-assisted rail car unloading system. Specific duties include operating automatically fired boilers to generate steam that supplies heat for terminal processes. Ensures boilers operate within safe operating limits at all times. Observes pressure, temperature and draft meters on panel to verify specified operational of automatic combustion control systems and feed water regulators. Turns valves and adjusts controls to set specified fuel feed, openings, water levels and steam pressure of boiler. Tests the boiler feed water and balances it with chemicals as needed. Monitors the system during operation and troubleshoots any issues. Observes boiler and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions, may make minor repairs such as tightening pipes and fittings or recommend repairs as needed. Performs preventative maintenance and works to protect boiler from corrosion or other potential damage. Monitors steam traps to ensure they are working properly and recommends repair or replacement as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Associates degree or equivalent in Process Technology or related field in addition to five years related experience or the equivalent of education and experience. Manual dexterity, basic math knowledge and mechanical aptitude. Must have the ability to communicate well with others and train other personnel on boiler operations. Knowledge of process equipment and terminal operations including tank storage, pumps and material transfer and heat transfer is highly preferred. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed. Must possess a valid driver’s license, a TWIC card or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, and successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
